At Porchlight Homes, we gathered an earnest group of hardworking people who share the same goals and more than 75 years of combined building experience perfecting the art of fostering community.
Scott is co-founder and CEO of Porchlight Homes. With a homebuilding career spanning three decades, most of it in executive management, Scott has an impressive record of achievement in residential development, master-planned communities and homebuilding. He brings considerable experience and insight having performed the same role previously for Element Homes, a company that he co-founded and helped establish as one of Phoenix’s top 20 builders.
Scott attributes his success at Element Homes to the experience and skills he acquired through nearly 15 years with the Del Webb Corporation, one of the nation’s leading builder-developers. He held a variety of senior management responsibilities while there developing, building and marketing communities in Arizona, California and Nevada.
He attended Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
Husband to Abby, father of five and grandfather to ten and counting, Scott enjoys working in the yard and cooking homemade pizza for his family and friends. He is a Phoenix native actively involved in the community through church service and participation on various advisory boards for the state of Arizona and other organizations.
Ryan is co-founder and president of Porchlight Homes. He is a hands-on guy who plays a key role in all phases of the company business – from land acquisition and development to sales and marketing. He is responsible for day-to-day operations while managing office and field personnel who are focused on Porchlight’s core competency of building communities on smaller lot counts in strong infill locations.
Before launching Porchlight Homes with Scott Peterson, Ryan worked with Scott at Element Homes managing teams of engineers, landscape architects and other consultants. He successfully entitled six subdivisions totaling more than 1,500 lots in four municipalities.
Ryan graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy after just four years at Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management. An avid golfer and runner, Ryan also enjoys softball and reading. When he’s not building your new home, Ryan is active with his family, friends, church and community service.
Logan Powell is vice president of operations at Porchlight Homes. He is a how-to guy with a meticulous vision for detail. From site selection and product design to contracting and homeowner care, Logan takes the lead. He ensures Porchlight achieves its core objective – perfecting the art of fostering community. No one knows better than Logan how it’s done.
His specialty is construction systems, having spent four years marketing high-performance materials in leadership positions with E. I. DuPont, where he executed global strategies for diverse innovations including Tyvek HomeWrap, photovoltaic facilities, and Kalrez and Vespel performance polymers. Logan learned everything else he knows through more than a decade of homebuilding. He worked in field operations, purchasing and product development for Del Webb/Pulte Homes, Longford Homes and Element Homes, respectively.
A graduate of Brigham Young University, Logan earned his bachelor’s degree in construction management, appropriately enough. Logan is also a graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he acquired a master’s degree in business administration. He built his first home when he was 4 years old – out of Lincoln Logs on his grandmother’s coffee table – and worked as a stonemason through college. Today Logan’s hobbies are woodworking and collegiate sports, but there’s nothing he enjoys more than spending time with his family, getting involved at his church and volunteering in the community.
Mike is vice president of field operations at Porchlight Homes and is responsible for all construction scheduling, production and warranty services at the communities. He is a chief liaison with stakeholders, including engineers, architects, plan reviewers, city officials and homeowner associations. As if he doesn’t have enough on his plate, Mike also plays an integral role in land development for the company.
This isn’t Mike’s first day at the homebuilder’s rodeo. He spent several years at Cadence Homes and Taylor Morrison Homes, both in Scottsdale, Arizona, managing construction job sites for new-build homes. In fact, Mike has been personally responsible for building more than 750 new homes – on schedule – since 2004.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in global business at Arizona State University. An Arizona native who grew up around the homebuilding industry, Mike has three great loves: his family, the outdoors and baseball. He played collegiately for three years and coached for two at Phoenix Christian Grade School.
